Medical consultation
- Evaluation and diagnosis: consultation with the doctor begins with a review of your medical record, reproductive history, and treatment you have undergone or are receiving at the time of the visit. If you have reports or results from your previous medical history, it is advisable for you to bring them on this first visit. Once your medical record has been studied, the doctor can determine what additional tests she/he considers recommending, as well as the need for a gynaecological examination. The doctor will keep you informed at all times about the purpose of each of the tests.
- Treatment orientation: at this point, if the doctor has all the information necessary, she/he will specify the treatment to be carried out, the medication necessary, and the possible complementary tests to the treatment. In addition, in the same interview you will receive the consent forms. It is possible that on some occasions the doctor may need to have certain results before specifying the treatment. In this case, the definitive treatment will be specified on the second visit.
Spermiogram
To complete the diagnosis, it may be necessary to evaluate the man’s semen. The seminogram (or spermiogram) allows us to study the concentration of spermatozoa, their motility (mobility) and their morphology, thereby detecting possible alterations. To carry out this study, it is also necessary to have a prior serological analysis. You can have all of these tests done at any of our IVI centres.
Cost Estimate
Following the consultation with the doctor, the Patient Assistance Department will give you a detailed budget that will include the procedures pertaining to the proposed treatment and the prior analyses and tests required by the doctor.
After your visit to the clinic
Once you have had your first visit and you have all of the necessary documents and information, if you have any questions or concerns, the professionals from the centre will be at your disposal to clarify any issues that you might have, either on the telephone, or you can request a new appointment.
